Rocky View was established in 1989 with the purchase of Benjamin Glenda, at the National Female Sale in Gympie. We also purchased females from Coolalinga Haigslea and Glen Park studs.
Glenda was flushed and resulted in 4 heifers and 3 bulls. These became the foundation . During the mid nineties Rocky View purchased the Kloundra herd along with stud sire Greenacres A Gaucho. In recent years, as lease country became available, females have been purchased from Bambara,
Twin Waters and Brigalow Park. This has resulted in a wide genetic base for the stud breeding program. Rocky View does not exhibit at shows, however we use the Droughtmaster sales to exhibit and promote our cattle. The highlights of our sales in later years have been to top the Roma tropical Sale in 2005 selling top price of $9,000 to Glen Fosslyn Stud,
and again in 2006 the Record top price of $34,000 selling to Vitwood Stud. We also won Pair of bulls that year at Roma. The 6 bulls offered averaging over $10,000. In 2006 Top price of $4,500 for unjoined Female at 3rd annual South Burnett Female Sale. In previous years the stud has also topped the Cow and calf section at the Gympie National Female Sale.
As Rocky View has not sold many stud females over the years our numbers have been steadily increasing. With the loss of agisted country close and cost of travelling the distance to country available this Production Sale is offering Breeders the opportunity to acquire females not normally offered at sales. |
